About us

bbb architects Ottawa is a well-respected Canadian architectural practice. The firm was established in 1985 at the height of the corporate real estate market and became known for its striking and efficient office buildings. With the 1990’s downturn in the business market, the firm diversified and now has expertise in a wide scope of building typologies.

In Ottawa, bbb has had the good fortune to be awarded some of the City’s largest and most prestige commissions, most recently winning the contract for the design of all thirteen of Ottawa’s new light rail stations, as well as the expansion and refurbishment of Cadillac Fairview’s Rideau Centre. The firm’s portfolio also includes the Master Plan and Architectural Design Guidelines for the Lansdowne Park Revitalization, the new Ottawa Macdonald Cartier International Airport, and the recently completed Ottawa Convention Centre. Other bbb work in Ottawa includes the headquarters for the National Capital Commission, Children’s Aid Headquarters and the Canadian Medical Association Headquarters along with the Royal Ottawa Hospital and the entire campus for La Cité collégiale.

The diversity of the firm’s work is intentional; its principals believe that research regarding its clients’ objectives and aspirations are essential to a successful design. bbb believes that too much repetitive work leads to past experience becoming the default solution for new work. While this may be an eccentric approach, over time it has provided the firm with a reputation for being passionate and innovative advocates for clients’ programs and aspirations.
